The Trabocchi Coast
A piece of coastline almost uncontaminated
The Trabocchi Coast is a spectacular piece of the Abruzzo coast, where the sea touches the land, creating a symphony of colours, frangrances and flavors in a charming atmosphere. This coastline almost uncontaminated extends for over 70 chilometers between the districts of Chieti and Pescara, showing beautiful landcapes, through streets and stunning paths.
The coast gets its name from the Trabocchi, ancient fishing stilt houses overwater, majestically standing among the waves, symbols of a tradition handed down through generations. These structures, on balance between the sky and the sea, inspired the famous poet Gabriele D'Annunzio.
Walking across the coastline, you can experience quietness and harmony, while the waves lapping on the beach and the sea bords' song create the natural soundtrack to contemplation. The beaches of pebbles and sand, interrupted by reefs and hidden coves, allows visitors to relax and enjoy the uncontaminated beauty of nature.
The Trabocchi coast is also a place of culinary traditions, that we can disover through simple but tasty dishes such as "scapece", fried fish marinated with vinegar and saffron, or the "pasta alla chitarra", a homemade pasta with meat or fish sauce. Don't miss selected wines and excellent olive oil to complete your culinary experience among the authentic flavours of Abruzzo.
